A Vandling man, upset about a derogatory remark made to his girlfriend, pulled a knife on the man who made it, according to a criminal complaint.
John Delfino, 36, of 206 Fifth St., is charged with assault, harassment and recklessly endangering another person.
According to the complaint:
Just after midnight on May 24, Carbondale police responded to a report of a man who pulled a knife on another man at Stonehouse Bar, 473 Fall Brook Road, Fell Twp. After arriving, officers spoke with Robert Thomas, who said Delfino pulled a knife on him.
Thomas said he came to the bar with a couple of friends and he spotted Stephanie Collier, who he said owed him money. He asked her why she could afford to buy drinks at a bar, but not to pay him back.
Collier’s sister, Amy Pisarcik, walked over and began to yell and swear at Thomas, who responded by calling her a profane term.
Pisarcik’s boyfriend, later identified as Delfino, heard what Thomas said, got upset and began arguing with Thomas.
Dave Nevins, a bar patron, tried to back Delfino away from the situation. As Nevins was trying to back Delfino away, Delfino fell over a chair. When he got up, he had a knife in his right hand and moved toward Thomas, who was about 15 feet away from him.
Another patron saw what was going on and tackled Delfino. Officers noted the incident was caught on surveillance video.
Delfino left the scene prior to police arriving but later returned.
During an interview, he told officers he didn’t have a knife but at one point said, “What would you do if someone said they’re gonna kill you?”
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. on July 21 before District Judge Alyce Farrell.
