Beach Lake

Fiddler performance: The Old Time Fiddlers of northeast Pennsylvania are celebrating their 46th anniversary by hosting a very special concert featuring champion fiddler Natalie Padilla. The concert will be held Sept. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Beach Lake Fire Hall, 1033 Beach Lake Highway. In addition, Padilla fiddle workshop at the Galilee Grange Hall, 554 Galilee Road, on Sept. 6 at 3 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.

Dalton

Annual event: Dalton Farm to Family Fest third annual event, Sept. 20, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., at Dalton’s Stream Side Park. The Farm to Family Fest highlights the beneficial interconnectivity among and between local agriculturally associated entities and the communities in which they exist; provides interactive opportunities to educate, entertain, inspire through demonstrations, presentations, performances all promoting awareness of local responsible farming efforts and community resources for healthful living; offers fresh foods cooking demonstrations, instructional and informational presentations, a children’s tent for hands-on learning activities and crafts and so many more educational experiences for all ages. In the spirit of inclusivity, the Farm to Family Fest provides American Sign Language (ASL) access for communication throughout the day. All proceeds benefit the community-supportive programs and projects of the DCCA.

Midvalley

Game event: Learning how to play Magic: The Gathering can feel like an impossible mountain to climb, but if you’ve ever wanted to try, the staff at the Valley Community Library is here to help Sept. 2 at 6 p.m. With the assistance of a 25+ year veteran of the game, you can learn the deepest, most customizable and zaniest game you’ve ever played on a kitchen table. There will be a short introduction to the rules of the game, followed by a practice game with the library’s own decks. Whether you’re learning for the first time or want to get back into the swing of it after a hiatus, we’re ready to help you be the best Planeswalker you can be. Regional

Rehearsal/organizational meeting: The Catholic Choral Society will open its 77th  season with a rehearsal and organizational meeting Sept. 2 at 6:15 p.m. at the IHM Center on the Marywood Campus. The performance and rehearsal calendar will be distributed at the opening meeting. The director of the Catholic Choral Society is Ann Manganiello, Exeter, and the accompanist is Linda Houck, Kingston.

South Scranton

Free dinner: One Hot Meal, Sept. 6, noon-1 p.m., St. Stanislaus Youth Center, behind St. Stanislaus PNCC, East Locust Street.

Free meal: Free community meal, Saturday, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Hickory Street United Presbyterian Church, Maurer Memorial Center, 435 Hickory St. Takeout or sit down.

Taylor

Free community concert: Taylor Borough presents the Wanabees free community concert, Aug. 31, 4-7 p.m., Taylor Community Center.
