A mother and son are facing charges after the son fled to his mother’s house following an incident of domestic violence, state police said.
Carl Edward Klinger Jr., 31, of 33 Blumers Road, Spring Brook Twp., is charged with simple assault and harassment.
Jennifer Larnerd, 50, of 225 Yostville Road, Covington Twp., is charged with aggravated assault and obstructing justice.
According to the criminal complaint:
Just before midnight on Wednesday, troopers responded to Klinger’s residence for the report of an incident of domestic violence. When troopers arrived, they found Darian Santini with a lump on her forehead.
She told troopers Klinger had punched her in the head during an argument and then left the residence.
State police found Klinger at his mother’s residence in Covington Twp.
When Larnerd learned her son was to be arrested, she responded, “I don’t think so” and got up from the couch where she had been sitting.
When troopers directed her to remain seated, she charged Trooper Kevin Gumble as he was attempting to handcuff her son.
Trooper Corey Carr then put himself between Gumble and Larnerd and ordered her to back up.
Larnerd responded by throwing a shoe at Carr, which struck his left shoulder.
Troopers then directed Larnerd to put her hands behind her back, but instead she returned to the couch and sat on her hands.
State police were ultimately able to handcuff Larnerd and place her under arrest.
Klinger told officers he had no idea how Santini got a lump on her head.
Larnerd remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail.
Klinger is free on an unsecured bail.
Both Larnerd and Klinger have preliminary hearings scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on April 30 before District Judge Paul Keeler.
