A: Invited to attend Empower: The Leadership Experience, a women’s-only conference initiative, I embraced the value of supporting other women and creating positive change in my community and in my life.

Q: What is something you do to relax?

A: To relax, I love to read, listen to a variety of music genres, and go to the gym. Also, walking my bulldog on a sunny day never fails to calm me down.

Q: Plans after high school graduation?

A: Penn State University Park, College of Education, Secondary Education in Mathematics to pursue a career teaching mathematics.

Q: Who do you most admire and why?

A: My mom is the person I admire most in the world. She inspires me to push myself while appreciating what I’ve already accomplished. She taught me how to be independent and empowered in my everyday life while realizing that it’s all right to take a breath. She set an example for me of what it means to be kind and generous while still treating others with respect. My intelligent, uplifting, beautiful mother is my best friend and the person I respect the most in my life.

Q: What advice do you have for younger students?

A: Say “yes.” That’s it. Say “yes” to opportunities and joining clubs and playing sports. Try it all. On top of that, say “yes” to academic responsibilities, to trying your best at anything you must do.
