A Taylor man faces charges after police said he threatened his mother.

Gloria Clarillo told borough police Wednesday her son, Rasheid Figueroa, 24, threatened to kill her at their home. She told them that he lives with her and speaks with her daughter, whom she does not speak to.

Clarillo said Figueroa was having her daughter come to the apartment and she asked him not to have her there on her day off as she wanted to avoid her, Sgt. Nicholas Snyder wrote in a criminal complaint. She said he told her he hates her and wants to kill her and his father.

Clarillo further stated he told her he would smack her, then jumped into her face threatening to kill and smack her while calling her names, according to the complaint. Figueroa then told her to get out of the apartment and she left.

Clarillo later provided a statement to police saying he previously hit her in the face while they were driving, to the point where she had to jump out of the vehicle. She also provided police a video of the incident where he yells at her to die, get out of the house and threatens to kill her, the complaint states.

Officers made contact with Figueroa in his home on West Grove Street and he told them he was mediating between his mom and sister. He added Clarillo began arguing with him and he told her to get out of his room before pushing her out.

When officers took him into custody, Figueroa began yelling at Clarillo and threatening her.

Magisterial District Judge Kipp Adcock arraigned Figueroa on charges of terroristic threats and harassment. Figueroa remains in the Lackawanna County Prison, unable to post $25,000 bail, with a preliminary hearing April 23.

Snyder advised Clarillo on obtaining a protection from abuse order.
