A Forest City woman is facing aggravated assault charges after police say she was “extremely disorderly” during her transport to the Lackawanna County Processing Center at about 3 a.m. on Monday.

According to a criminal complaint, Crystal Guerrero Alvarez, 21, of 233 Main St., was in custody for alleged public drunkenness and arrived at the center’s secure entry area in a police vehicle.

When officers tried to lead her into the building, she became “extremely disorderly,” police say.

“Four officers had to escort her inside the door of the LCPC due to her extreme behavior, where a further search of her person was to be performed incident to arrest and following intake procedures,” the complaint states.

Once inside the secured area, Alvarez was able to remove her hands from handcuffs, striking, kicking and spitting on Deputy Emily Wilk, police say.

She was shackled and placed in a holding cell.

Alvarez is free after posting 10% of $2,500 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. on April 23 before District Judge Joanne Corbett.
