SCRANTON — The Spring Shopping Market at Lace Village Saturday offered a great way to kick off the Easter weekend and the start of the Spring season.
Lace Village, once a sprawling manufacturing facility home to Scranton Lace Company, now offers both commercial and residential space, in addition to community events which are well attended and appreciated by members of the community.
Saturday was no exception, with rising temperatures drawing many to the free event, who enjoyed the chance to get outdoors and chat with friends they may have not seen throughout the winter.

Gabriele Wegielewski and Ashley Bagg described the event as “the perfect way to spend a Saturday.”
Both said they appreciated the chance to shop local and to enjoy the warm temperatures.
Wegielewski and Bagg grabbed a “Strawberry Crush Sangria” and took a break from shopping, finding seats in a nearby grassy area.
They enjoyed the chance to relax after the work week.
It was the third time participating in a Lace Village event for Patrick Douglas and Kassy Adams of Stone Lake Winery, and the two, who are brother and sister, said they had been treated very well and enjoyed getting to know customers.
Douglas said the “Sangria-to-go” pouch was a customer favorite.
Jason Van Sickle owner of “Dead Man Walking Distillery,” travelled from Bloomsburg to participate as an event vendor.
“It’s my first time here,” he said. “And, I’m impressed. I’m overly impressed.”
Andrew and Amber Shipsky were vendors at the event, offering a mobile petting zoo to all ages, which included lambs, goats, bunnies and adult sheep.
Taking center stage was a lamb named Easter, who was more than happy to cuddle up to a customer and to allow youngsters to run their hands over the soft wool on his back. Many stopped for a quick photo with the recently born animal.
“You can’t hold a lamb without smiling,” Andrew Shipsky said.
Shipsky said he thoroughly enjoyed the event, the people and the weather.
“We’re going to keep coming back,” he said.
