SCRANTON — The state Department of Transportation announced it will close Parker Street between North Main and Boulevard avenues for two weeks starting Monday to finish paving under the Parker Street Bridge reconstruction project.
During paving and milling work, PennDOT will restrict access to the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail parking area for the Parker Street Landing trailhead.
Traffic on Parker Street, which is marked on street signs as East Parker Street on the eastern side of North Main Avenue, also will be detoured during the paving project.
The PennDOT detour routes will include:
From points west of the bridge: Go north on North Main Avenue for 1.8 miles to the intersection of Main Street and Boulevard Avenue in Dickson City. At this intersection, turn right onto Boulevard Avenue and go 1.7 miles to the intersection of Boulevard Avenue and Parker Street in Scranton.
From points east of the bridge: Go north on Boulevard Avenue for 1.7 miles to the intersection of Boulevard Avenue and Main Street in Dickson City. At this intersection, turn left onto Main Street, and go 1.8 miles to the intersection of North Main Avenue and Parker Street in Scranton.
A reconstruction of the Parker Street Bridge undertaken last year was completed in January. The bridge reopened to traffic Jan. 23.
