OLD FORGE — A fire destroyed a house at 546 Winter St. in Old Forge early Saturday morning, but everyone got out safely.
The blaze was called in at 4:07 a.m. as a garage fire.
When firefighters arrived at the scene minutes later, the flames had spread to the house and a second alarm was called, according to Old Forge Fire Chief Mark Tagliaterra.
Firefighters remained on scene for over three hours.
Occupants of the house are staying with family who live nearby. No one was injured, Tagliaterra said.
Firefighters from Old Forge Fire Department, Greenwood Fire Department, Avoca Fire Department, Taylor Fire Rescue, Excelsior Hose Co. #2 Duryea Pa., Hughestown Emergency Services, Scranton Firefighters, Chinchilla Hose Company of South Abington Township and Pittston Township Fire Department responded to the scene, according to the department’s official Facebook page.
