Open house rescheduled: Annual Scranton Tennis Club open house has been rescheduled to May 24 (rain date, May 25), 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., 1029 Morgan Highway, Clarks Summit. Ribbon-cutting ceremony for newly renovated courts and improvements, noon. Other activities are Activities for Juniors, 11 a.m.; Stroke of the Week, noon; exhibition match, 1 p.m. Board members will be on hand to provide information on membership, leagues, playing programs, tournaments and other club activities. Original play: The Scranton Chapter of UNICO hosting original play “The Last Thoughts of Gino Merli” by Thomas Flannery and performed by Bob Shlesinger, Scranton Public Theater, May 22, 10 a.m., for high school students, and 7 p.m. for the general public. It will be held in Lackawanna College’s Peoples Security Bank auditorium. Admission is $10. Veterans’ entry is complimentary. Proceeds benefit the Merli Center and St. Francis Commons.

Plant exchange/marketplace: Mountain View Garden Club’s Plant Sale/Exchange & Marketplace, June 1, Clifford Community Center. This event has been held annually since the club’s formation in 2005. Many area gardens have been established and continue to grow with the reasonably priced perennials, shrubs and trees purchased at this event over the years. The marketplace will be open from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., featuring local artisans, businesses and churches. Vendor space is available for $20 (provide your own tent and tables). The plant sale/exchange will be held from 2-4 p.m. featuring locally grown perennials. You may also bring two perennials from your own garden to exchange for two plants of the same size or value. Another popular part of the event is the 2nd Hand Rose flea market where you can find interesting goodies and gadgets. Music provided by by Jim Carro.
