Police salute ultimate sacrifice

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

The Scranton Police Department recognized Peace Officers Memorial Day with a solemn ceremony Thursday morning at police headquarters in honor of the sacrifice of officers locally and across the country. May 15 was designated as Peace Officers Memorial Day by President John F. Kennedy in 1962, and the week in which that date falls is also recognized as Police Week. National Police Week is a time to support law enforcement communities and honor officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, according to a release by the city.
