A new coalition advocating for immigrant rights will be announced Tuesday, near a Luzerne County Flood Protection Authority property that will house office space for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said Frankie Malacaria, membership coordinator of the NEPA chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has a lease with the Flood Protection Authority for ICE to use office space in the building, off Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, near the Wyoming Valley Airport.
A time has not been set for the press conference, which will be held near the rear of the building.
Malacaria, of Scranton, recently ran an unsuccessful campaign for city council.
