The Wendy’s fast-food restaurant at 944 Wyoming Ave. in Scranton is temporarily closed while it undergoes an extensive renovation. A banner sign on a fence at the site on Thursday, July 10, 2025, says the restaurant will reopen around the end of the summer. The company website also notes that this location is temporarily closed. Founded in 1969 in Ohio by Dave Thomas, the Wendy’s company has over 7,000 restaurants worldwide. Wendy’s has restaurants locally elsewhere in Lackawanna County on Davis Street in Scranton, on Viewmont Drive in Dickson City and on the O’Neill Highway in Dunmore, as well as numerous other locations throughout Northeast Pennsylvania, according to the company website.
