Dickson City

Neighborhood watch: Dickson City Neighborhood Watch meeting, Wednesday, 7 p.m., Dickson City Community Center, 824 Main St.; guest speakers Maurice Gardner and Michael Bodnar from the Pa. Department of Environmental Protection Mine Subsidence Section. They will be providing information on mine subsidence insurance. Q&A/discussion will follow. Free community concert: Jermyn annual free community concert sponsored by the Jermyn Events and Lackawanna County commissioners, July 20, 6-8 p.m., Callahan Recreational Park, Mellow Court, Jermyn, with music by the Wannabees, and free hot dogs, beverage and ice cream provided for all in attendance. Bring a blanket/chair and enjoy an old-fashioned evening in the park with family and friends. In the case of rain, will be held in the Jermyn Community Center Gym, Jefferson Avenue.

Bus trip: AARP NEPA Chapter 3731 will host a shopper’s special bus trip to Kitchen Kettle Village in Intercourse on Aug. 23. Experience 40+ unique shops in a quaint, walkable village in Lancaster County. After shopping, dinner will be included at the Grand Smorgasbord at Hershey Farms. Cost is $99. Gain information on starting your own troop, learn more about Girl Scouts and connect with other adults to start a troop.
