St. Paul’s Church in Scranton was the setting April 5 for the wedding of Clare Elizabeth Schoen, Scranton, and James Haggerty McGrath, Dunmore. The bride is the daughter of William and Cathleen Schoen, Scranton. The bridegroom is the son of Christopher and Jean McGrath, Dunmore.
The Rev. Angelo Rizzo, S.J., officiated at the 1 p.m. ceremony.
Sean Ann Schoen, Dunmore, sister-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor. Margaret McGrath, Dunmore, sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Cecelia McGrath, San Jose, Calif., and Nora McGrath, New York City, sisters of the bridegroom; Clare Collins, New York City, cousin of the bridegroom; Bridget O’Hanlon, Haddon Twp., N.J., future sister-in-law of the bride; and Julianna Barker-Norris, Asheville, N.C.
Christopher “Babe” McGrath, New York City, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Timothy Schoen, Dunmore, and Christopher Schoen, Haddon Twp., N.J., brothers of the bride; and Joseph McGrath, Jack McGrath and Timothy Rose, all of Philadelphia, cousins of the bridegroom. Joseph Haggerty, Scranton, godson of the bridegroom, was junior usher.
A reception was held at the Hilton, Scranton.
The bride is a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in health science and master’s degree in occupational therapy from Misericordia University. She is an occupational therapist at Allied Services.
The bridegroom is a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in government from Georgetown University. He is a faculty member at Scranton Preparatory School.
The couple met while coaching Prep’s cross country team.
The couple, who will take a wedding trip to St. Lucia, resides in Scranton.
