Lindsey Kavalow, clinical territory manager for Medtronic who works out of Wilkes-Barre, will speak. She has an MS, RDN, LDN and a CDCES and is well informed about diabetes; she’ll discuss pump therapy and what Medtronic offers, presenting an overview of what’s new with Medtronic’s products and future innovations for diabetes management.

Annual fundraiser: Valley Community Library is celebrating its 40th anniversary and will hold its annual Books Appétit fundraising event May 1, 6-9 p.m. Local food, beer, wine, raffle baskets and live music by the Wanabees. This event is for individuals 21 and older. Drinks will be provided by Breaker Brewing Co., Bald Bird Brewing and more. Event tickets cost $35/person in advance or $40 at door. All proceeds benefit the Valley Community Library. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online or in person at the library. The library will close at 1 p.m. on May 1 to prepare for the event.
