Lackawanna County detectives arrested a Luzerne County man on drug charges in Scranton.

Detectives noticed a man, later identified as Joseph White, 49, of Kingston, driving a silver Hyundai Elantra with tinted windows on North Main Avenue at Lafayette Street in West Scranton on March 14.

They stopped him and, while speaking, learned he did not have a valid driver’s license. The detectives asked him to exit the vehicle. While talking with him outside the car, they noticed he was displaying signs of crystal methamphetamine use, being very jittery and breathing heavily, according to a criminal complaint.

They found a bag containing three glass crystal methamphetamine pipes with crystal methamphetamine residue inside, as well as a digital scale.

Detectives charged White on Thursday with two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and a count of possession of a controlled substance. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 9.
