Downtown Scranton businesses oppose change to metered parking on Saturdays

The city hopes to reach a compromise with parking-system bondholders to keep downtown street parking free on Saturdays, under a restructuring of debt that would avoid a default, Mayor Paige Gebhardt Cognetti said Wednesday.

Road in Moscow to be closed for over a month for construction work

Church Street in Moscow will close from July 12 to the end of August for construction.

MOSCOW, Pa. — A Lackawanna County road is expected to be closed for more than a month due to construction work.

Church Street, also known as Route 690, in Moscow, will be closed from July 12 until the end of August, according to officials.

The detour will be the same route as previously marked.

Rotary Club of the Abingtons Fireworks Celebration

The Rotary Club of the Abingtons will host its 39th Annual Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Abington Heights Middle School (1555 Newton Ransom Blvd). Parking opens at 5 PM and is $10 per vehicle. Fireworks are set to go off at dark (no specific time set).

Jessup Veterans Memorial Field Fireworks Show

Head to Jessup Veterans Memorial Field for a family day celebration and fireworks show Saturday, July 5th! This event will take place from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with fireworks at dusk, and will also feature live music by Riley Loftus, a touch-a-truck area, raffles, a vendor and craft fair, and more.

Donations are accepted at the gate.
